NEW YORK (AP) — Federal prosecutors in New York Metropolis have rewritten their indictment towards U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey and his spouse to cost them with conspiring to have him act as an agent of Egypt and Egyptian officers.

The superseding indictment was filed in Manhattan federal court docket on Thursday. It says the conspiracy occurred from January 2018 to June 2022.

The couple have pleaded not responsible.

Menendez defiantly pushed again towards federal corruption expenses final month, saying practically half one million {dollars} in money authorities present in his residence was from his private financial savings, not from bribes, and was readily available for emergencies.

Rejecting rising requires him to resign, he mentioned he believed he’d be cleared of expenses that he took money and gold in unlawful change for serving to Egypt and New Jersey enterprise associates.
