Neighbors demanding motion after driver runs down household of geese in Peabody

Police in Peabody are on the lookout for a driver who reportedly plowed by means of a gaggle of geese Tuesday morning, killing three goslings as they crossed the highway.

Police Det. Lt. David Bonfanti stated the incident occurred on Winona Avenue. Ring residence surveillance footage seems to indicate the second a silver automobile crossed paths with the geese. 

Neighbor James Gemma advised WCVB the motive force “didn’t hesitate. Didn’t brake. Nothing. Blew proper by means of them. Killed three of them. Injured a fourth one. It was devastating, heartbreaking.”

Liani Cove, one other neighbor, advised the information outlet that the person sped off and blew by means of a cease signal on the finish of the highway. 

WBZ reported that Gemma chased after the motive force, to no avail. 

Residents stated a household of geese lays eggs within the neighborhood and spends time in a pond off Winona Avenue, WCVB reported. Neighbors buried the three useless goslings close to the pond, in accordance with the information outlet. 

Canada geese are protected underneath the Migratory Fowl Treaty Act of 1918, which prohibits the killing of sure chook species with out prior authorization from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Bonfanti stated the Peabody Police Division is occupied with talking with the proprietor/driver of a two-door grey automobile, probably an Infiniti. 

In the meantime, residents are calling on town to put in rumble strips and put up geese crossing indicators on Winona Avenue, in accordance with WCVB.
