Dr. Bernard “Bernie” Spiegel, previously of Quincy, died on July 2, 2023.
Spiegel, Dr. Bernard “Bernie” Dr. Bernard “Bernie” Spiegel handed away on July 2, 2023 surrounded by his loving household at his residence in West Palm Seaside, FL on the age of 92. Bernie spent most of his life in Quincy, MA and retired to Florida over 19 years in the past.
Bernie was born on January 6, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY to Nellie Kurtzman Spiegel and Sidney Spiegel. He was the “greatest” massive brother to his youthful sister Ruth Spiegel Sharaf. Bernie married the love of his life, Carole Handwerger Spiegel, in 1956. Collectively they created an enormous, close-knit, loving household that at all times needs to be collectively. The rising household contains: Lori and her husband Dr. Jeffrey Shapiro, Cheryl and her companion John Callahan, Jodi and her husband Eric Blakeman. His 10 grandchildren introduced him such pleasure, satisfaction and love: Dr. Lucas Shapiro and his spouse Sheryl Rubio, Dr. Jake Shapiro and his spouse Eliane Engelhard, Sophia Shapiro, Clay Richard and his future spouse Mary Penna, Wes Richard, Leah Richard, Harrison Pearl, Sydney Pearl, Abigail Blakeman and Noah Blakeman.
Bernie graduated from Quincy Excessive Faculty, Syracuse College and Boston College Medical Faculty the place he determined to pursue a specialty in Ob/Gyn. He did his internship in Buffalo, NY, and residencies in Jersey Metropolis, NJ and Chapel Hill, NC. Bernie then spent 2 years as a Captain within the US Air Power at Eglin Air Power Base in Florida. After leaving the Air Power, the household moved to Quincy, MA for the following 40+ years. They bought a second residence in Waterville Valley, NH within the early 70’s the place they realized to ski and have been energetic part-time residents till just lately. In 2004 Bernie and Carole bought their Quincy residence and moved to Ibis in West Palm Seaside, FL the place they made many buddies and have become avid golfers.
Bernie was firstly a household man. However his second love was his work as a physician. He practiced Ob/Gyn at Quincy Metropolis Hospital and South Shore Hospital. And he was an amazing physician: good, hardworking, devoted and compassionate. Bernie delivered hundreds of infants and liked what he did. He lived down the road from the hospital, permitting him quick access for nighttime deliveries.
