Out of doors mirrors in showers can replicate and amplify daylight, which officers say is a fireplace hazard.

A mirror in an out of doors bathe sparked a fireplace at a Cape Cod dwelling by reflecting and magnifying daylight into the bathe’s body. And now, firefighters are reminding residents that putting a mirror in an out of doors bathe could be a hearth hazard.
The Harwich Hearth Division shared photos from a resident on social media of a broken outside bathe, believed to have been began by the mirror. The resident and the division mentioned the injury was confined to solely the outside bathe.
“Particularly this time of yr, when the solar is at a decrease angle, there’s a actual likelihood of the magnifying mirrors inflicting a fireplace,” the Harwich Hearth Division wrote.
The Massachusetts Division of Hearth Providers reiterated and added to the Harwich firefighters’ warning.
“Mirrors, bottles, and different curved glass surfaces have all precipitated fires by focusing the solar’s rays on flamable supplies,” the division mentioned on Fb. “It’s most secure to maintain them out of direct daylight!”
