A protracted stretch of freezing situations has left behind a wintry panorama atop Mount Washington.
The Mount Washington Observatory noticed its first measurable snowfall final week, and since then, the inches have piled up.
“The summits have lastly emerged from the clouds after a virtually week-long stretch of freezing fog and near-zero visibility,” employees wrote on the observatory’s Fb web page on Monday. “Sunshine this morning revealed a thick coating of rime ice and 4.5 inches of recent snowfall ensuing from the prolonged interval of wintry climate.”
Images shared by observatory employees confirmed snow and ice coating gear and buildings on the mountain.
“A distinct world on the summit,” they wrote.
