Reminder: The Pink Line will see a partial shutdown beginning this weekend

For those who’re somebody who depends on the Ashmont and Mattapan branches of the Pink Line, be ready for some disruptions to your journey over the following few weeks.

Beginning Saturday, the MBTA is shutting down the Pink Line from the JFK/UMass Station by way of the Ashmont and Mattapan stations. The closure will probably be in impact till Sunday, Oct. 29.

Throughout the shutdown, shuttle buses will change service on the Ashmont and Mattapan traces. Throughout weekday peak hours, the buses are anticipated to run from JFK/UMass to Ashmont each two to 3 minutes and to Mattapan each 12 to fifteen minutes. Off-peak hours on each weekdays and weekends, the buses alongside the Ashmont line will run each seven to eight minutes, whereas buses alongside the Mattapan route will run each 12 to fifteen minutes. 

Journey may even be free between all Zone 1A stations on the Commuter Rail’s Fairmount Line in the course of the closure. 

“Permit additional journey time throughout this service change,” the MBTA warns on its web site. 

Service on the Pink Line’s Braintree Department or northbound to Alewife won’t be impacted, in keeping with the MBTA.
