Mt. Washington Observatory catches footage of passing meteor

A very brilliant capturing star turned heads throughout New England in a single day Friday because it dashed from south to north.

The Mount Washington Observatory launched a video Friday exhibiting a stunningly brilliant meteor capturing throughout the New England night time sky.

The meteor, which is a streak of sunshine attributable to a meteoroid passing via Earth’s environment, appeared in entrance of the observatory at roughly 3:02 a.m. Friday. The video footage was captured by the observatory’s tower digicam and shared with the general public.

Astronomers described the picture as “what seems to be a fireball, or an particularly brilliant meteor, streaked throughout the night time sky because it moved from south to north.”

The video was shared on the Mount Washington Observatory’s Fb and X pages. 

Skygazers chimed in on social media, with a number of individuals claiming to have seen the capturing star with their very own eyes, in real-time.
